Question: Why do people compare mj to anyone,michael was the biggest star ever, a true music and dance genius?

He was in show business for OVER 40 years, he was always great, perfection on stage, and his success will never be matched.Don't they get it? No one, no one can ever reach Michael's greatness, trust me ask anyone with knowledge.

I agree with you completely, but its all down to opinion really. We can't force everyone else to see what we see. I believe Michael was in a league of his own and so can't be compared to any other artist. I know i'll get thumbed down once again because of my own opinion. Its sad really.

No he was not. John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Elvis, and Freddie Mercury are the best artist ever. As for dancing. Cab Colloway > Michael Jackson. And James Brown and Prince come pretty damn close.

He isn't the best, so yes anyone can compare him to an artist. Edit: Wow. I get thumbs down just for saying that Michael isn't the best artist ever. This is exactly why I've been vanishing from this "MJ family " thing.

I agree. I don't even think it's a matter of opinion. Michael Jackson is in a league of his own and incomparable. For those who keep comparing him to your favorite artists, if you keep comparing them don't get mad when someone chooses Michael Jackson.

Personally, I feel he was the greatest entertainer that ever lived but different people have different taste in music and opinions.you should be happy they are using him as a standard to all artists,moreover he has the largest worldwide fanbase of any artist living or dead

He was just an artist like any other artist. Sweeping statements like "the biggest star ever " are ridiculous. Sure he was talented but other people were/ are/ will be talented too. I for one simply don't like pop music so of course I don't consider his stuff genius - it's good pop music to be sure but it's still just pop. He was certainly a giant in the pop world, probably even the best in that particular genre, (as long as you put the Beatles in the rock category) And there is no question he was a great performer. But there are other great performers, alive and dead, and there will be yet to come. Its all a matter of taste really. As for dancing, I find one of Baryshnikov's soaring leaps or Balanchine's choreography far more inspiring and genius than MJ grabbing his crotch and wearing two toned gloves. And with music, are you really going to try to tell me he was a greater musician and more of a genius than Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, or Chopin? If so you are seriously deluded.
